The European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) will hold its 65th annual meeting from 29 April to 1 May 2027 in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is the main European gathering in the specialty and one of the forums where studies on puberty, growth and hormone treatment in childhood and adolescence are presented, an area directly linked to the care of minors with gender dysphoria.
What will be discussed
This edition’s theme is “Developmental Aspects in Paediatric Endocrinology: Shaping Health Across the Lifespan”. The programme includes clinical and basic research, state-of-the-art lectures, “How do I” sessions and meet-the-expert sessions, plus activities aimed at trainees. Recurring areas include growth and growth disorders, metabolism, pubertal development and lifespan care.
Free pre-meeting day
On 28 April 2027, the day before the meeting, a complimentary pre-meeting is held honouring three pioneers of the specialty, with international speakers and a programme focused on current advances in growth, growth disorders and sex steroids in clinical practice.
Registration
Registration is already open on the meeting website, with different fees for members and non-members and discounts for trainees. Information on abstract submission and the full scientific programme is published on the same page as the date approaches.
Why it matters
Decisions on puberty blockers and hormone treatment in adolescents rest on evidence discussed precisely at meetings such as this one. Following their programmes is a way to learn what is being researched and which criteria are being reviewed in European paediatric endocrinology.
